This island paradise has become one of my favourite places in the Caribbean. Dominica is an island with very little in the way of infrastructure for mass tourism and for this reason it has remained a gem and is mostly unspoiled by the typical buildup surrounding tourism. Dominica received the fewest visitor of any Caribbean island and ranks at the top of the worldwide list for eco-friendliness. It is a destination for those who like to be off the beaten track; it offers hiking trails and lots and lots of forest (the frequent rains are thrown in for free!). There's a lot of farming, but it is either subsistence or small-scale and I've never tasted such delicious fresh fruits and foods as on Dominica.
