The morning was a normal work day in my home-office and the normal flow was only interrupted once by the two professional varnish workers arriving and looking at my cockpit table so that they could come up with an estimate. They did, we came to an agreement and I will get 8 layers of Epifanes High Gloss applied after they prepare the surfaces. They won't start until next week and will need over a week to do the work and I'm looking forward to seeing the results and being able to eat at my cockpit table without worrying about any stray grease soaking into the wood.
My boat maintenance task for the day was servicing the winches, I hadn't done that in a very long time (before my trip from the USA to the Caribbean over a year ago, and I don't know if they were serviced during the refit). I did a thorough job on the forward port winch, which seems to have been a bit sticky and then only had time for the other forward winch before it was time to call it a day, so I'll have to complete the job and do the other 2 winches tomorrow.
I decided to try the upstairs restaurant in the marina today, they offer local and Thai cuisine and I fancied a nice spicy meal. Although the restaurant was nearly empty the food was very tasty with the menu showing 2 out of 3 peppers and that equated to a mildly splicy meal which suited me just fine. I enjoyed the view, the cloudy sunset and a couple of Piton beers and returned to the boat. I lounged in the cockpit for a while before heading off to a short night of sleep (I have an early conference call tomorrow).
