The rapid spread of the COVID Delta variant has exacerbated the problems here in St. Lucia and I read this morning that there is already a curfew in place as of Sunday and that the chances of the situation getting worse and perhaps even resulting in another lock down were pretty good (or bad, depending upon one's viewpoint). I think that after finishing my day's office work I'll dinghy in to the grocery store again and do some shopping just in case I can't go ashore to eat anymore.
I applied waterproofing to the first 6 cushions this afternoon and also fixed the cushion grommets and attachments. I had "Friend", the contractor working on the boat next to mine, come over to look at my cockpit table with an eye towards varnishing it and he said he'd be finished with his current job soon and would come over and give me an estimate. He comes highly recommended and has a lot of experience, so I think I'll hire him on to do the job. Once that is finished I'll finally be able to eat at the cockpit table without worrying about drops of grease staining the teak!
I worked on replacing my Post-It note board of boat tasks with an electronic one on this website and came up with more tasks than I wanted, but it will show how much work is actually involved in maintaining a sailing boat.
With a cloudless sky I chose to apply the waterproofing to some of the cushions and also repair/replace some of the missing grommets. What I'd neglected to factor was the nice breeze, which made spraying the petroleum-based protectant a somewhat messy affair. But I got 6 cushions done and realized that I'm going to have to purchase another gallon of sealant in order to finish the job and have some left over for patch-up work.
I looked at wiring some LED lights to the cockpit table, a task best done when the table is removed for varnishing later on. Then I had a happy hour beer in the afternoon heat and that wasn't a great idea as I lost all motivation to do any more tasks after that. I read a book in the shade for a while, cooked the rest of my pasta sauce with some spaghetti for dinner and watched an episode of Blackadder and that was it for the day.

Cushions drying out These cushions have received a spray dose of waterproofing and are out in the sun drying out.The spray is petroleum based so I'm not going to risk staining my teak until they are fully dry
